When we moved to Hawaii, I thought we would be inundated with visitors and instead we had very few in the six years we lived on that lovely island.
Egypt, that's another story.
When you live in Egypt, you don't just desire to share the experience, it is all-consuming.
Egypt is indescribable. You are living something you simply cannot put into words.
Even if you are a blogger. *gulp*
When my Mom came to visit, I felt vindicated. Someone I loved would see this country I love through my eyes. I spent a month sharing every experience with her, watching with glee as she learned a little Arabic It was magical. Not three days into her month-long visit, she called my Dad and told him he had to come out. Six months later I had both my parents and my younger sister descend upon us for three weeks! Again, it was an otherworldly experience of not only sharing what you cannot explain, but also seeing this place with fresh eyes once again.
It's a gift. Really.
After two years, I am desensitized to the family of six on a motorcycle ... without helmets ... riding sidesaddle ... holding a newborn. I see a mini-bus, designed to fit 15 people, flying down the road at triple capacity and double the speed limit, and I shrug.
But when you have family visit for the first time, you relish those moments once again.
Bring it on, Egypt!
SuperHub's parents are visiting this week. We are having a ball. I will post more photos later, but here is a taste of the fun we are having!
Have an awesome week!
