I try hard to fit in absolute goofy insanity with my kids every day. Sometimes it's making up silly songs while I am driving, other times it's cutting their sandwiches into goofy shapes and calling their food silly names. As their mom, I am so often their safety, their security blanket, the one who meets their everyday needs, and there is not much memory-making to that.
Neal is incredible at making time to bake with the kids or do crafts with them. He's fine with them covering the floor with sprinkles when we build our yearly gingerbread house. He sees the potential memories. I see the mess.
Since this spontaneity is not my forte, I have to work at it. Today, the kids were wild. They have a TON of energy and as luck would have it, it was raining. Yay! Rainy day! Not.
In an attempt to force Muppet adoration on my children, I recorded the new Muppets movie and decided to spring it on them after their afternoon "nap" time. Blankets out, we snuggled and they lasted about 12 minutes before the Muppets were boring and the slow lead-in was too much for the kiddos. Trying to keep them put, I flipped open my laptop and turned on the Photo Booth. :)
